General requirements:

Forging reduction ratio:≥4:1
Austenite grain: As per ASTM E112-latest, grade 5-8
Guarantee no crack, no flake, no shrnk hole, no pin hole
Mercury free: non radioactive, no welding. Decarburization is allowed for the RT and then QT bars.
Non-metal inclusion: As per ASTM E45-latest method A

Surface condition: rough turned, required a surface finish of 500 RMS or better
End hole: removed the ends holes.
Dia. Tolerance: -0/+2mm.
Out of roundness: within 1.9 mm. Straightness: max. 2mm/m.:≤1.9mm, 2mm/m.
Forged Bars surface grinding allowed, Must not remove surface bellow nominal diameter.
Material shall be untrasonic tested in accordance with ASTM A388 4mm FBH.
Austenitize @1575-1625°F, 45 minutes per inch. Temper @900°F min, 60 minutes per inch.
