Viscose yarn is a natural yarn made from cellulose. Viscose is a viscous organic liquid used to make rayon and cellophane. Cellulose from wood or cotton fibers is treated with sodium hydroxide and then mixed with carbon disulfide to form cellulose xanthate, which is further dissolved in sodium hydroxide.
The resulting viscose is extruded through a slit into an acid bath to make cellophane or through a spinneret to make rayon. The acid converts viscose back to cellulose. Due to the following special properties:
